April 29. 2008

Liberty was so funny about climbing out of her "feeding bucket" and climbing in with the green cheek babies. She doesn't seem to notice that she is a bit bigger.

April 27, 2008

Well, Anna made a very interesting discovery today....Gala & Fuji's three babies aren't Pineapples, they're Cinnamons! So now we have 4 Pineapples from Fuzzy & Wuzzy and 2 Cinnamons from Gala & Fuji and 1 Pineapple from them. What is the difference between a Cinnamon Green Cheek and a Pineapple Green Cheek? Click here to learn more.

Here are pictures of all the babies from today:

Here are the many faces of our Pineapple/Cinnamon Babies! Thus far, there are 3 deposits in (Kristin, Sarah and Angela) and 5 more babies avialable.

There is also a Normal looking baby that is split to Turquoise available. The father is Yellow Sided split to turquoise and the mother is a visual Turquoise. The baby HAS to be split to Turquoise and might be split to yellow sided (if it is a male).

April 18,2008

Here are the first four babies from  Fuzzy and Wuzzy. Look at the wonderful colors. The face even has red up over the eyes and nose and on the cheeks. WOW!!

April 13, 2008

Fuzzy and Wuzzy are producing babies that are super red. You can see the deep red coming in on this baby!!

It looks like Gala and Fuji have 2 Pineapples in their clutch! We brought in their 2 babies and a second one from Fuzzy and Wuzzy!

After banding them all, we prepared dna cards to send in for sexing them.

April 10, 2008

We are feeding 2 of Gala and Fuji's babies. The oldest is a Yellow sided and the next one is a Normal with very unusual coloring.

Next to come inside with us will be babies from Fuzzy and Wuzzy. They have red eyes and pink feet! (left picture). There are 4 babies in that baby pile!

To the right is our first baby from Curious and Blue. Blue USED to be paired up with Berry and Curious was with George, but after 2 years of no babies, we split them up and re-paired them.  Blue is a Turquoise and Curious is a Yellow Sided split to turquoise.

March 28, 2008

I finally took the risk and peeked in nest boxes today!! I am praying my intrusion does not cause parents to be destructive. We were so excited that when I gave my daughters the news, you may have heard a scream coming from west Phoenix!!

Fuzzy and Wuzzy have at least 4 babies. They are exceptionally red Pineapples and we can't wait to watch these babies feather in.

Gala and Fuji have 5 babies in their nest boxes!

Feb 28, 2008

We will not be looking in Fuzzy and Wuzzy's box with hopes that our lack of intrusion may give them the needed security to raise a clutch.

Fuji and Gala: I cannot candle these eggs to check for fertility for about 2 weeks. Their clutch is unpredictable as far as which mutations are available until the babies feather out somewhat. I will know if there are Cinnamons or Pineapples by the red eyes when I look in the nest box. It is hard for me to promise someone a baby from this clutch until I know what we have.

Feb. 25, 2008

Fuzzy and Wuzzy cracked their first egg. We are soooo disappointed. We don't know if they cracked it intentionally or not. She will lay again, for we can see an egg in her vent area.

Feb. 22, 2008

Fuzzy and Wuzzy laid their very first egg.

Fuji and Gala are on 4 eggs and still laying!

Feb, 20, 2008

Fuzzy and Wuzzy are eggnant. They are very red Pineapples and should make stunning babies!

Fuji and Gala are on 3 eggs and laying more daily. They have the potential to make Normals, Cinnamons, Yellow Sideds and Pineapples.
